John William Barnes married Dec 1889 Blaby Volume 7a page 70, a Sarah Humphries is on the same page.

Aylestone is in that district, and a Sarah c1853 can be seen on the 1861 census.

In 1881 John is with his uncle John Walley, whose surname can be seen on freeBMD:

James Barnes married Dec 1863 Burton Volume 6b page 475, an Ann Walley is on the same page.

The Walley family can be seen on various census. Their fathers possible birth can be found on www.familysearch.org. In 1861 his brother in law is staying.

Have you bought Johns marriage cert and/or his birth cert? That would give both parents full names
