Find Ancestors

Thanks to everyone for their contributions. This one has not been easy. I haven't been able to find any references on IGI for Samuel's parents. The 1841 census was my only hope. samuel was born in Oct so that makes the entry for Samuel Edwards 7 mths very likely. It's tragic to think that both has parents may have died by then.....

Congratualtions Ivy - I think you have found him.

In 1841 the family and Samuel you found were living in Thomas St - just down the road from the couple I presume are his uncle and aunt based on the 1851 Census - detials below. You are right he was born in Wellington Road - It's one of the main roads leading north - I don't know of a Willington Road

I had another thought last night. If Samuel cannot be found easily, perhaps it is possible to have a look and see who is on that road on census night in 1841.

I see that Heaton Norris is a sub-district of Stockport, and using it as a keyword on Ancestry brings up 15,000 people in the civil parish of Manchester in Lancashire. (Three are NK infants, but each are only a few days old).

Find my past has an address search. Wellington Road, Heaton Norris seems to give no results, although Wellington Road, Stockport, any county, results in two possible counties: Lancashire - 32 schedule numbers (as CP Manchester, town Heaton Norris and registration district Stockport), and Cheshire - 36 results (CP, town and reg dist all Stockport). Presumably "residential place" on the address search means the registration district.

It might well be worth a quick trawl those 32 in Heaton Norris to see if you can spot any of those surnames you are looking for?

(NB Willington Road returned no results for the Stockport registration district in 1841)

There is no obvious option for 1841 - this is the nearest but not Heaton Norris. If you have his parnets names from the cert that may help

Got his birth cert yesterday and think 1841 census could be the key as he was a visitor and or a lodger in subsequent censi. Thought 1841 census could be only chance to throw more light on his parents and their dobs etc.
