George and Wm served in WWI, dossiers are online, u have probably already found this!

This could be a marriage for George:

Family Name: AVENELL
Given Name: George
Spouse Family Name: HARRISON
Spouse Given Name: Sylvia Ruth
Registration Year: 1921
Registration Number: 11010
Event: M

This is his death:

Surname: AVENELL
Given Names: George
Father: William Thom
Mother: Annie MOORE
Death Place: MALV
Age: 68
Year: 1956
Reg Number: 11905
Event: D

Here is Kate's death but can't find her marriage:

Surname: LANGLEY
Given Names: Kate
Father: Avenell William
Mother: Sarah Ann MOORE
Death Place: CAMB
Age: 70
Year: 1954
Reg Number: 11165
Event: D

An Annie AVENELL aged 50 and George aged 25 came to Vic aboard OSTERLEY in Nov 1913. Doesn't quite fit her age?

Mr W Avenell (Wm Thos?) arrived aboard Westmeath Jan 1913 aged 27.

Mr & Mrs Avenell (aged 29 & 26) with child aged 3 arrived on Warrimoo in Feb 1913 (could be Wm, Mabel and Frank?)

Maybe nothing new here but hopefully something.

Cheers
Cherilyn

Warren Report 15 Dec 2007 23:08

Trying to find out any information on William Avenell (b1852 Hascombe Surrey England) and his wife Sarah Ann Moore (b 1852 Whareham/Wareham Dorset England).

They had at least 5 children all born in Blackheath Surrey England:

Florence 1879
Kate 1884
Annie 1885
William Thomas 1886
George 1889

From what family have told us, William died and Sarah Ann with her cildren emigrated to Victoria, Australia. Sarah died 1928 in Glenhuntly, Victoria.

All of the children with the exception of William Thomas married in Australia.

William Thomas married Mabel Christina Copley (b 18 Feb 1890 England) and had 2 sons:

Frank William b 1911 England
William Vance 18 Aug 1926 Rochester, Victoria, Australia.

After active duty in WWI, and returning to Australia William (Snr) worked on a farm in Rochester and then decided to travel to Canada where he died after a long illness following a stroke which confined him to his bed for a very long time. William Vance and Frank William both eventually returned to Australia after extensive travel with their mother, Mabel. They both settled in Longreach Queensland Australia after marrying.

If anyone has any information in relation to this family and are happy to pass it on it would be very much appreciated.

thanking you in anticipation
Vanessa (Avenell) & Warren Taylor
