David, its a case of going to Kew to view the records Im afraid - or getting a researcher to do it for you. If you want someone to try I have used a very good chap several times who is very reasonable. If you put a search in for National Archives you will be able to see what records they hold for merchant navy. |

You say you are trying to find his death. When was his last child born? So we then know that it will be some time between then and 1946? Gives people some idea of where to begin looking. |

Just a sec, Russell isnt her birth name - DOH So you actually want Beatrice Ethel Evans? If you have the cert, what are the parents names? Take it you want the census info or not? |

Are you sure about that year of birth for Beatrice? Nothing coming up on freebmd (which you can search free) for that name/year/area |

The 1881 census is free for you to search on familysearch.org or ancestry. I dont know how anyone manages without an ancestry sub to be honest and it would be worth you thinking about it - even if just taking the 14 days free trial to start - you can do an awful lot of research in 14 days. |
