Find Ancestors

I know that my Dad was brought up by his Grandmother so it is quite possible that dear old Samuel flew the Coop after his wife died. Bit rough though, he had five kids.

Sophie I think Samuel did remarry as I remember visiting him and his wife? in Preston, but I have no idea what her name was (I was only 4 at the time). Is Newcastle on Tyne anywhere near Preston or Lunesdale

If you order his birth or marriage cert from the GRO, they will still only cost you £7 each, there is no extra charge to get them send overseas.

Thanks Sophie, is there anywhere online where I can get more detailed information, i.e. names of parents etc. as I can't find a Samuel Fox born in Lunesdale in the census

I can't find him on any census. You really need to get his marriage cert or his birth certificate to find his parents names and make the search easier.

Finding his death will mean trawling through the death indexes quarter by quarter unfortunately.

He was a billiard hall manager. Do not have access to birth certificates etc. at the moment have to order them from UK.

Sorry Sam meant to say I don't know his parent's names I found his birth notice but cannot find anything in the census, nor can I find a death notice.

What are you looking for? Census info or his death?

You say in your first sentance that he was born Lunesdale, Lancashire then later say you don't know where he was born?

Do you have his fathers details from his marriage certificate? What was his occupation?

Have hit a brick wall with my grandfather Samuel Morton Leake born Lunesdale, Lancashire 1881, Married May Fox Jul/Aug/Sept quarter 1906. May Fox (Leake) died in March 1915 when my father was only three years old. Unfortunately do not know where Samual was born, but do know he lived in Preston Lancashire in the early 1950's. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
