Haven't found the family Margaret and Nicholas (father) in 1871 ?possibly in Ireland as Richard was born there in 1864

Thanks again for all your help and all this information, looks like they went back and forward from Ireland then Liverpool and ended up in Lanark Scotland. My Nicholas Carney (hairdresser) died in Lanark in 1911 aged 57 his wife Margaret Carney died in Dundee in 1934 aged 70.

Unable to find any likely censuses possibly if this is them going backwards and forwards from England to Ireland looking at where the children were born Hope this helps

Thanks for that one, it isn't my Nicholas and Margaret though, well I didn't think it was but now you have made me think twice about it.
Nicholas was 57 when he died in Lanark 1911.

Maybe he had to work as a labourer for some reason ?? perhaps to get money together to set up in business due to the family's travels to and from Ireland just thinking out loud really The Thomas I found was a linen draper in 1881, an engineer's labourer in 1891 and then a commercial traveller (draper) in 1901. Not able to find a good lead on William as there are no brass founders on censuses after the 1861
