LfW -- what is this GRO ARMY CHAPLAINS BIRTH INDICES whereof you speak, and where do you consult it??

Someone else on here last week had army births in Gibraltar, and that may be just what s/he needs. I can point you to the thread I imagine, if you think it would help. ...

Here it is:

Who is Mary's father on the marriage certificate? It should say whether Henry and/or Mary are single, widowed or whatever.

I don't know if anyone can help. I have just received my grandads birth certificate. It says his mothers name was Mary Cox. His father was Henry Crisp b. 1851 suffolk - House Painter (have no problem with this side). My problem is Mary.

My grandad was Charles Crisp b. 1886 46 Cumberland Market Pancras.

His mother Mary appears on 1891 census with Henry, Charles and 2 daughters Alice b 1889 Islington and Maud b 1880 Marylebone . They lived at 22 Brook Street islington. It says Mary was born 1839 Gibralter Spain (which i'm not sure if it is right or not). As it would make her nearly 50 when she had Charles and Alice. (It may be 1859)

Cannot find anything for any of them on 1901 census or 1881 census. (only a Henry Crisp married to a Maria L Crisp but he was born in Westminster with a daughter Florence J and his sister
Elizabeth living with them but occupation doesn't match)

I don't know if Henry was married before or Mary was before or after Henrys death.

If anyone has Mary in there tree or can shine any light on this it would be much appreciated. I can't fins marriage for them either.

Thank you
Diane
