because I am trying to find Thomas Scott b abt 1849, wife Mary b abt 1946 on the census returns going back from 1891. I have them on there but cannot find them before that. I want to establish if they had any other children other than those shown on the 1891 census and also to track back from Thomas 1849 in the hoipe of finding his siblings and parents. Would anyone care to have a look for me as I've spent ages. According to 1891 census, Thomas, his wife Mary and all children were born Coventry, Warwickshire, although up until now I have also been unable to find the marriage of Thomas Scott and Mary A ? on Freebmd in Coventry. Thanks a lot

Many thanks Vera. This is beyond understanding isn't it. I could understand perhaps being missing from one census, but not all of them bar 1891. The invisible family...

You gem Vera - no I hadn't got this. The only one I had was the 1891 which said Coventry as birthplace. I was led to believe they were a Coventry family but according to that Thomas was born Walsall !! This might change things and perhaps Walsall/Staffordshire is the area to pursue for 1881 and backwards. Would the address in 1901 be Trafalgar Street, Coventry by any chance. You are a wonder. Thank you.

Vera - you are wonderful and I am truly grateful. Just popped off to prepare the veg for tea and when I come back - bingo, you have cracked it. You've made my day. Many thanks.

Thanks also to Tea Rose for the possible marriage. I will make a note of that.

Margaret
In 1901 Census the address is 13 Hope Street, again in 1891 it's Hope street but number 18. Hope street is still there today but the original buildings are no longer there. Hope street is opposite The Butts College a large block of flats are where the original buildings would have been.
