i am trying to find the death of my great grandfather his name was William Arthur Jeffrey he was born in 1909 in gosforth northumberland, he was released from the raf in 1945 his service records say his home address was in brighouse and i think he died sometime between 1945 and 1950. I would be really greatful for some help but understand if this is a too wider search, if so could someone plese recommend a good site to register with that will allow me to search records thankyou very much for your time

findmypast would be your best bet........£5.00 will get you at least 50 units....enough to search all quarters for 12 full years

As you know when he was born, you will be able to match the 'age at death' to your info

I have checked on findmypast from 1945-1950 and did not find his death.

Total longshot as I've been checking Findmypast from 1951 onwards:

JEFFREY, William
Age: 49 yrs
Jul - Sep quarter 1958
District: Newcastle T
Volume: 1b
Page: 2

Gosforth would be Newcastle upon Tyne registration district, so just thinking he may have moved back to that area after leaving RAF.

Have checked up to end 1960 just to see if there were any others but this is most likely one based on age!

Helping because I have been trying to find my grandad's death and know what it's like to try to find a needle in a haystack when you have no specific information!
