Hello Margaret

On the 1861 Census (RG9/322 Fol 11 Page 40 at 116 Willow Walk, Bermondsey) George Taylor and his wife Louisa, had Henry age 5, Benjamin age 3 and Edward age 2months. No Isabel unfortunately.

The only other thought I have had is perhaps they emigrated to possibly Australia. An Auntie to Bertha went out to Parramatta, NSW

Another oddity is that Bertha's brother Arthur who was born in Bermondsey in 1865, says on the 1901 census that he was born in NSW, Australia, which I don't think is true. He might have visited. Besides he married twice in Camberwell and Foxearth, Braintree, Essex. I have copies of the marriage certificates.

Thank you very much indeed Margaret for your help. It is much appreciated. I think it is a case of ANOTHER problem I cannot solve!!

Regards
Jo

Hello Twinkle

It COULD be Benjamin Taylor's death. Age is correct, but he was born and brought up in London, so I don't know why he should go to Lough, Lincs

Will certainly enter it into my Index box on him, and ponder it!

Thank you very much indeed for your help
Regards
Jo

Jo, the 1901 census has a Sidney Taylor, 13, who is a nephew in the household of Alfred S. Merriman & Isabel. When I checked Free BMD there's a marriage of Alfred Samuel Merriman & Isabel Taylor, 1871, Pancras. (Isabel sister of Benjamin?)

Hello Alice

Yes, that is them, but on the 1891 Census, as Margaret says.

I cannot find them on the 1901 census. I have found a possibility for Bertha as a Widow on 1901, but cannot find Benjamin Samuel's death.
Also, I should be able to find the children on the 1901 census, but no luck.

Many thanks for your help

I think you meant 1891, Alice?

Hello Margaret

Yes, I got caught out on that one!!
It has some of the right names , but the ages are not right and the birth places also not right!

If Benjamin Taylor has died by 1901, the children Bertram and Sidney must be somewhere, but I cannot find them either!

I have tried USA as well, as I have been caught out there before!

Many thanks for helping me
Regards
Jo

I am trying to find the death of Benjamin Samuel Taylor.
He was born in 1858 Mar Q Bermondsey, London

He married in 1883 to Bertha Elizabeth Henley.

I have them on the 1891 Census at RG12/470 Folio 94 Page 25 with 2 children, Bertram L. Taylor age 6 and Sidney A. Taylor age 4.

I think I have found Bertha E. Taylor on the 1901 census as a widow, but no children!!!! (Cannot find them on the census) Bertha's age not right either, so am dubious about this census
She was at RG13/496 Folio 101 Page 17, but the mention of a brother George E. Rand?? is not correct.
Bertha was born in 1863 (under Henley),

Can anyone find either Benjamin Samuel Taylor's death between 1891 and 1901, or where the family were in 1901

Many thanks
Jo
