There is no James William Golding birth registered in 1874, but there is this one registered in the first qtr. of 1875 (the birth could have been late 1874). However it is in London and not Manchester:- |

1901 - definitely not your man. He's a boarder not a daughter so these are not his parents. He's a tram conductor. |

Yes Jas is an abbreviation for James, as is Thos for Thomas. |
