John Simmonds married Phoebe Greenway in 1883 Stratford 6d. Phoebe died age 26 1886. In 1891 there is a John Simmonds a labourer a widow with his son George 7 born Sept.1883 at Stratford 6d. They are living with John's parents. Looks like no other children of John's at that address. Might be worth a look for you. George is still with his grandparents 1901 census when he is 17 and a bricklayer. Irene |

I am trying to find the origins of my Grandfather above. I know from his marriage lines that his fathers name was John a labourer. The wedding was wittnessed by Thomas Simmonds and Edith Harris. He married Olive Harris from Astwood Bank and they later lived in that area but the wedding took place at St Matthias Parish church Birmingham. They had what look like accommodation address's on opposite sides of the road in Bridge St West B'ham. on 24 April 1905. Of him prior to that I can find no trace. George also had a sister Annie who married a Robinson and they lived and died near Tewkesbury. They had a downs-syndrome son. Any information on any of these people would be greatly appreciated. |
