If you get Nellie and George's marriage certificate, at least you will know how old Nellie was and therefore when she was born, and also the name of her father / Annies husband. It will cost £7.

Hi Donna

Do you know Annie's maiden name? If not, you need to find Nellies birth registration or get her birth certificate. Or you could get George and Nellies marriage certificate, this will tell you Nellie's father / Annie's husband.

Was Vera older or younger than Nellie?

The only way to find out whether Annie had more children or not is to firstly find out Annie's maiden name. Then you will have to search for Harper births, in the right area and with the right mothers maiden name. Unfortunately, for the timescales that you are interested in, there is no easy way and you will have to search each year, quarter by quarter.

Hi,

Long-shot...

My Great Grandmother was Annie Harper of Kilnwick. Her daughter, Nellie (born. c1920), married my grandfather George Holder in 1937...Nellie has a sister, Vera.
Annie and George lived in Hull, as did their children; Brian, Alan, Veronica (1942), Kathleen (1949, my mother), Irene, Maureen and Sheila (the youngest)...(who were fostered/adopted out after Nellie's death).

I'm still in Hull.
What I'd like to know is whether anyone can tell me anything more about Annie Harper, who she married (my GGrandfather), when, where, did she have other children etc....

Thanks for your time. Merry Christmas,
Donna.
