Thanks for that info Reg, but I am sure the name changed after world war two to make my grandfathers business look posher. I have seen my uncles birth certificate, he was born Smith and married Deller-Smith. So deed poll system may have a link surely?

I doubt if it would be necessary to use the deed poll system for this.

It isn't actually a change of name............just an amalgamation.

Hello People,

My Surname is Deller-Smith, but I am aware it originated Smith. Deller was a middle name in my uncles and grandfather. It is believed the name changed for a smarter business look Combining middle name and last name to create a new last name.

I beleive this would be done by deep po ( i believe that is how its spelt.)

Would any records of this be possible?

Thanks
Marc
