Thank you Kathryn B for all your information - I have printed it out and I am sure it will help me with trying to trace my Collingwood tree.
Hannah Maria 1869 Collingwood, Chatham, Kent,
Alexander Thomas Collingwood, London/Surrey 1847
Joseph Collingwood, London/Middx 1804

The story has been passed down through the generations that we are connected to Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood. but unfortunately information has been watered down through the ages, so it is all a bit vague.

You're welcome again, Marlene, but: too many threads! Only one is needed per topic -- let alone per thank you card. ;)

You seem to have deleted all the info I provided in your original thread, and I wouldn't want someone else to go doing it all over again when they see your new messages.

Trust me, gentle readers: I tracked the tale down through time and space, as far back and as far wide as possible with only the internet to work on (to births in the late 1700s in Northumberland and London, and up to 20th century descendants of the Admiral's line).
