Thank you Kathryn B for all your information.

I am working on my family tree for my Collingwood side, if any relatives recognize the names below, in their family tree - I would appreciate any information you can give. I am trying to find a connection with Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood.

Joseph Collingwood, 1804,London/Middx
Alexander Thomas Collingwood, 1836/37 London
Hannah Maria Collingwood, Chatham,Kent, 1869

Hannah was my fathers grandmother, and the story through the generations is that we are connected, but all is a bit vague.

Thank you all.

Apparently Admiral Cuthbert Collingwood had 2 daughters by his wife Sarah.
Sarah married George Lewis Newnham(1816).He added the name Collingwood at a later date. There were no children from this marriage.
Mary Patience Collingwood married Anthony Denny in 1817. There were two daughters, Sarah Blacker Denny (b.7.12.1819) and Mary Patience Denny (10.11.1821).
So maybe your connection is via one of his siblings. Cuthbert had 6 younger brothers and 3 sisters.

Why you're welcome, Marlene!

Best thing to do, though, is keep this all in one thread so that anybody else who can help has all the facts at their fingertips.

... Well, I was going to link to it, but I can't find it. Surely you haven't deleted it. All the work I put into it, gone? Tell me not.

I've got a famous-ancestor tale in my family as well. Maybe I should turn it loose on you. ;)
