Hi Paul, I had a bit of time to play this morning and found this for you


I think I found William Hind born 1842 in 1861 - already in service so not with his family

1861 - 6 Low pavement
RG9-2466 Fo 12 Page 17

He gives his place of birth as Radford Notts


I think in 1851 he is with his aunt & uncle,

John Atkinson 35 taylor born Lincolnshire (deaf)
Pheobe Atkinson 33 born derbyshire belper
William Hind 9 nephew
William Sells 56
Thomas Harvey 18


In 1861 John & Phobe Atkinson have Pheobe's widowed mother living with them she is Mary Beardsley born 1783 in Hickling Notts

From the IGI German & Mary Beardsley had 2 daughters born in Belper Pheobe in 1817 and Mary Ann in 1821

In 1840 Mary Ann Beardsley married at Nottingham St Pauls to William Chamberlain Hind

In the 1851 census (when William born 1842 is staying with his aunt and Uncle) this is the rest of the family

William Chamberlin Hinds occupation is given as machine smith and he was born in Nottingham

From the IGI William Chamberlin Hind was baptised 9th Nov 1817 the son of William Hind & Sarah (nee Chamberlin)

Christening: 22 SEP 1822 St Mary Nttngh,

My great grandfather was William Henry Hind b.Leicester 1863 and married Harriett Grant from Smeeton,Leics.I have a copy of marriage certificate for William and Harriett at St.Marks Church.Nottingham on 11th August 1861 which gives Williams age as 20,occupation footman,residence Kent St and father,also William(occuption -smith).
I cannot find William(or Harriett) on 1861 census.
Can anyone help to determine the father and ancestors of 1841 William.
Any information in this respect would be most welcome.
