I am trying to find the family of one of my ancestors, Her name was Jane Batten estimated dob is 1844 , I have her fathers name her marriage certificates (she married twice)First to a Gaston Louis Vignal who i believe was french and shows up nowhere ! then a Samuel Wright (Gentleman) but on the 1851 census two (Jane Batten's) show up that could be her minus her Father William Battern (Architect) I am not sure how to work this out as they are both listed as living in the area she is from and both are listed as being scholars which she was
Can anyone help shed any light on the best way to proceed , I would be very grateful
Many thanks

When and where did she marry? Where was she from?

If you c`an find a birth registration for her, send for the certificate and you will get her mother's name so you should be able to work out which one is yours on the census.

Hi, Well I have just recieved her marriage cetificates from a cousin in Australia and I have found Her and her first husband Gaston l Vignal on it 19thMay 1864 in Bloombury Middlesex, But I cannot find them on any census and I have just realised that we believe their daughter (Emily Aderlaide ) was born in south America, so maybe thats why they were abroad???? She was from London , Newington ,
Many thanks
