Looking for birth record for John. He appears on Rootsweb as born in Dalkeith in Feb 1874, but no trace on Scotlandspeople.

Hi Alistair,
Had a look on Scotlandspeoples for your John Robert Adams, but couldn't find him either.
Have you tried IGI?
There's a John Adam born 18 Feb 1873, Dalkeith, Midlothian, to parents William Adam and Margaret Thomson.
The batch number also gives a daughter born to this couple - Maggie Simpson Adam, 15 Dec 1874, Dalkeith, Midlothian.
