I've just had a look at the 1881 census for William & I think he may be 37 not 27.

oh dear! heads hurting now!

william (1811ish) and laura wallan (1817ish) had 4 kids: william in abt 1842, laura 1846 and nancy 1848 and finally henry in abt 1851. This i know to be true. Henry is the one in our line but the 81 census shows him living as head of house with his immediate family and his mother and sister and a william but they age is way out and im not so sure that its his brother but i cant find any trace of william on the previous census.

Am i making sense or am i confussing everyone?

thanks for looking-thats the right laura you have found-thats the mother-on the 1881 census she is head. Its thw william aged 27 on the 81 census that im trying to locate on the 71 census.

having seen the entry-i believe that both emmas are actually lauras-which is correct as there is a mother and daughter both laura e wallen.

Laura the senior had 4 kids-william was the oldest then laura junior which on here says shes mid 30s. im doubtful that this william is her son but is obviously a relation of somekind. Im having real trouble back tracking. I cant find a marriage entry for william and sarah either that fits.

On the 1881 census i have:
Henry A Wallen 30, Head, Wife Eliza. Street address 126 Carlton Road. Children Henry age 9, Fredrick 7 and william under 1. (this is in london)

ALSO at this address is Emma Wallen Mother-head-widow and daughter emma unmarried, ALSO William wallan head 27, wife sarah, daughter ellen, nancy and martha and son herbert.

Therefore there are 3 families of wallans at the same address, obviously they are linked.

would someone see if they can see william wallan and his wife sarah on the 71 census. I am trying to establish how they are connected to my branch of wallans-we have come from the henry a wallan line and there is obviously a connection between william and henry. Henry does have a brother called william but he is 10 yrs older and this one is younger. They are possibly cousins-im a little stuck.
