Liverpool Maritime Museum has an extensive archive of seafarers documents but you would need to visit or get a GR bod from there to offer to visit for you. Alternatively lots of mariner info at:

Who is it you are looking for?

I am looking for a man named Blaney Toomes/Toombs who was a Mariner in Liverpool. His wife Ellen died in 1838 and was noted as the widow of Blaney Toomes, Mariner.

I thought I might be able to find Blaney this way as nothing on IGI or family history on line. I found the marriage on Family History online but have now come to a brick wall
