From the website you gave first wife was Fanny Knox & I'm pretty sure that this was a mutation of his name

I would've thought that if Liverpool Museum doesn't know it will be very difficult to find out. Considering he was born in Attock in the North West Frontier Province of India I think you'll have some searching to do.
