Can anyone help us, we are tracing my husbands ancestry,we have got a little confused. My husbands father, William Herbert Brown, born 1922 in Kingsmoor Carlisle, his father was George Herbert Brown, born 1898 in Kingstown Cumberland, his parents were, George Brown, born 1856 also born in Carlisle he was married to Annie Cartner. That is the back ground to my husbands paternal heritage, this is where our problem arises my husbands father William moved south after being demobolised from the army and married Valeria Mercia Porter in July 1946 in the county of chichester, they lived and had a family in the area of Didcot Berkshire. we were as a family under the impression and was told that William died around 1956 (34-35 yrs old), he was on his way home riding his motor bike from Cholsly, which is near Reading Berkshire. But, after many hours of searching the death records we could only find 1 William Herbert Brown death being registered in Wakefield 1956, in the 3 quarter, vol;2D page 473, is there any way of finding out if this is his father william. My husband as we are lead to believe has no living relatives, unless of course any of your searchers out there know different. A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL, |

the best way to find out if William Herbert Brown death being registered in Wakefield 1956, in the 3 quarter, vol;2D page 473 is his father is to order the certificate, see how old he was when he died, cause of deatth, and maybe person reporting was next of kin. Not much help i am afraid but could be worth the £7 if it turns out to be the one you are looking for. |

I am thinking of one of the "Who do you think you are" series, where the parents had supposedly died in a rail accident (was it Griff Rhys Jones?) and it turned out they hadn't. |

If you order the cert from Wakefield reg office and specify the home address is Berkshire or wherever they will check first. |
