Only have the surname. I as a very young child called him grandpa Butcher. To my father he was just Butcher, and my father wrote to him during ww2 so he wasd not dead before 1945/6 I should estimate that he was born in 1870's/ 80's. My grandmothers name was Ada Baglin and she lived in Rawmarsh nr Rotherham South Yorks, she was widowed in 1914 and never remarried. Can anyone help me find him so I can put some history to him and add him to my family tree as he was part of it. Elaine. |

Was Baglin your Grandmothers maiden or married name? |

Grandmothers name prior to her marriage was Outram. However, Butcher did not live with her until long after she was widowed I think in the 30's 40's. Katherine B has cracked it though, as she has both Butcher and my grandma Many thanks to you all, Knew I could rely on the G R team if I wanted info you are a fantastic lot. Happy new year to you all. Elaine |

Lovely piece of work Kath :) Cinderford is a strange place in the Forest of Dean, on the borders of Wales. |

Hey Kathryn! You've done a great job and we witches must stick together. Funny you being one, my grandchildren all know me as the witch as I make sick animals better and have a (classic nose). The Butcher in Gloucestershire is the right one, it is realy strange because Ada's husband William's Family all came from Gloucestershire going back to the 1600's. Sorry i had to log off last night but my two dogs can tell the time and must go for last walkies at 10pm. I am going to see if I can find more about him, I am not sure whether he was just a lodger or more, I was too young to care he was just grandpa Butcher. Thank you all Elaine. |
