Am looking for a Samuel and Fanny Gillard with a daughter called Elizabeth Lucy Gillard born about 1881 (End of I think) probably Cheriton Fitzpaine,Devon-thats near Tiverton and crediton Devon if that helps-Thanks. Samuel should be a carpenter? any adress would be great-And a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is the only Samuel Gillard that comes up anywhere with a wife called Fanny. No Elizabeth Lucy with them though and Samuel is a railway signalman:-

Thanks Kath-I've been given the mariage of the Parents in 1868 and have them on 1881 with other children-but not Elziabeth-and am just trying to find them all together to make sure they are the right family!

Thanks anyway-Have had a look for them in 1891 but they all seem to have disappeared! I'll have to geth ehr marriage cert to be sure of the parents names-what a pain!

I've checked all of Cheriton Fitzpaine (only 4 pages) & they aren't there.
By 1891 son Robert had left home & was living in Stockleigh Pomeroy. The family must have lived there as this is where daughter Rosa was born c1893.
I've also checked all of Stockleigh Pomeroy & the only remotely possible is a caravan on the roadside containing 4 females & 4 males all unnamed.
I don't think this is them.

How strange-Thanks very much for looking for me-They must have gone visiting somewhere! I've checked deaths for Fanny and Samuel but nothing in that area so must have moved.At last I know I've not missed them.Vickie x

Kathleen may have found 1891 - no Elizabeth. Though he's a railway signalman & Emma Harold is his sister-in-law. Does this make sense?

No they weren't dead they are on the 1901. By now Samuel is a wheelwright.

I have just had confirmation from the relative that she Has Elizabeths birth cert which names her parents as Fanny and Samuel and that all fits with the names and dates given so Sounds good-Thanks very much for all your help.
