Thanks once again for your help. Will try
other avenues. Have traced Alice's tree back further.havn't noticed any comparisons will look closer. I did think if anything he might be older as I have photo of him(I believe its him) in army uniform of Royal Horse Artillery. Have looked on medals for WW1 and can't find him there either. I think he has told a lot of porkys over the years. Just want to find out if he really is who he said he was!!

the issue you have is he may have been 'from' Bray but originated from somewhere else. I would also suggest he may have lied on his marriage cert... this happened alot.... he may have made himself appear older or younger depending on his wifes age. Ladies did this more than men. Unfortunately you can only register a death with the data you have, which can be wrong. I have several members of my tree who changed ages everytime they married and also were either alot older or younger than they actually were on their death certs.

Have you tried going back in Alice's tree? coupling's usually happen with families from the same village/town or at least the same census district. It might reduce down your options trying to find him. He may well also have had his surname transcribed wrong...

Trying to find information of my father-in-law to help my children. He was married in 1933 marriage cert says he was 34,married in StPhilips Kensington and his father was a coachman named William Henry Coombs, deceased. I can't find a birth cert that ties up. He died in 1976,my husband registered the death but we never knew anything of his family. Would be grateful of any help. Thanks
