Does anyone have any knowledge of the history of Anne Casey--born Liverpool--November 1907--registered January 1908. Her parents were James and Margaret (Brown ) Casey. Her christian name is a puzzle because on her baptism entry it is spelled Anna, On her birth entry it is--Hannah, and she was veriably called Ann (e), Annie, and Hanna. She had 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Nothing else known. Thank you.

Philip, her parents James and Margaret Casey ( nee Brown ) were married at Liverpool Register Office 1903.
Free BMDs state marriage was registered September Quarter of 1903 Liverpool Volume 8b Page 271.
There are three possible marriages for Ann/Hannah Casey on Lancashire BMDs ?
1/ 1927 Ann V Casey to Michael J Murphy.
2/ 1933 Hannah Casey to Philemon Lewis Liverpool Reg Office.
3/ Ann J Casey 1934 to John J Ardis
Liverpool South Reg Office.
Hope this helps ?

Philip

on the marriage reference below found on www.lancashirebmd.org.uk , it doesn't necessarily mean they married in a registry office. It usually means a Catholic church (in my experience) and the registrar had to attend as only a vicar of the Established church can legally marry couples, i.e. Church of England

In the results below, the reference number will be a link to a printable application which can be used to order the certificate for the index entry. Full details of the charges and the Register Office address can be found on the form.

Thank you both (Poirot and SueS ) very much. I opologise to you both for inadvertently misleading you though. I was trying to keep things brief and to the point. The fact is---I have most of my mothers family BMD etc sorted, except----I only have Ann/Hannah's birth details, and cannot find her (for sure) in the marriage and death records because of the uncertainty of her name spelling. The cost of 'chancing' some of the 'possible' certificates would be expensive---as I have discovered so far. One possible pointer to her marriage status--at least in 1942, is what appears to be her signature to her mother's (my gran) 2nd marriage certificate (she was widowed in 1918) as a witness. The signature being ---A. Casey. The only other 'A Casey' in the family was her younger sister Agnes-( known by her 2nd name of Laura), but she was by then ---Mrs A .O'Hare. If this is Ann, then it suggests she was single at that time. No one in the family knows for sure what happend to her, but one hunch was that she moved south to Oxford.? Thanks again---Philip.
