Are you trying to find living people or do you just want to do your dads side ancestry?

If its the later get your dads birth cert which will give his dad and mums full names and also the address where he was born. Once you have both grandparents names you can search for their marriage and buy that certificate which will give their fathers names and occupations and where your gransparents lived when they married and so on backwards.

First step is get a copy of your dads birth cert - I take it he is still alive?

Im trying to find info about my fathers side of the family as we are no longer in contact. His name n his fathers name are both Terence aka Terry, I knowmy grandad used to be married to Linda but I dont know her surname. My father has a brother n sister that I know of they are Garry n Sharon. Sharon is married but im also not sure of her surname. I dont know any info accept my dads was born in wellington on the 1 or 2 dec 1964. My grandad was born around the late 1930s or early 1940s I think I would be greatful for any info.
Thank you in advance
