I'm trying to find Woodward's that moved from Canada to England between 1870 and 1930 I know that's a big gap but it's possible that my Grandfather and/or his family moved from Canada at some point if any one can help with this I would be most grateful.
Thanks for reading

A bit too big a gap -- information-wise.

Some names are the big thing missing.

There are no Woodwards in the 1901 UK census (barring mistranscriptions) who were born in Canada, so their migration was likely later.

Do you have access to Canadian records? Well, you do, even though you may not know it. ;)

The 1871 census index (heads of household) can be searched for free at:

http://www.ancestry.ca/search/db.aspx?dbid=7922

The 1881 census can be searched for free at:

The 1901 and 1911 censuses can be searched for free at:

You need to try to find your people in at least one of them, and get as many details on them as you can.

If they're in Canada up to 1911, give us some details and we can see what more might be available on line after that -- e.g. marriage and death records for various provinces (births are generally not available after 1906) -- to try to place their last presence here in Canada.

After 1920ish and until 1984, there is no searchable database for births, marriages and deaths in England, but depending on what is discovered about them, some records could be found by downloading images and looking for people by name.

Fill in some gaps first, and something might be findable!
