Janice, the only documented evidence is the marriage (1879)certificate of Edward Worden, bride Caroline Henrietta Von Unna.this states his father to be John Worden.of Exeter Devon, England.
And his death certificate 1912 Sth Australia, states he arrived in Sth Australia c1877.

What is the earliest event you have documented evidence for?

Parish records will probably be the most help.

Thank you Janice,
does it mean an other name miss spelling. it gets more complicated, but I don't want to give up.
If this is the same Edwin and if it is my g/g/grandfather he should not show up in any more UK census as he landed in Sth Australia in 1877.

Is There Help. Please.

What's in a name?? confusion? I have found what I hope is my long lost John Worden. But I need help to conferm.
Edward Worden my G/G/grandfather states on his marriage certificate his father was a John Worden, born Exeter Devon. Edward also born Exeter Devon abt 1852.I have searched & come up with Marr,Reg. a John Warden in 1844 Exeter b. abt 1823, Devon.

Census 1851 John Werden (28yr) Spouse Elizabeth, Exeter. Members of house hold Elizabeth Werden 27, Henry 1, John 28,(laberour) John 3, Mary 5.

Census, 1861, John Wardon (occup sailor), 38, Sp Elizabeth 38, Harry 7,Elizabeth 3, John 13, Mary 14, Edwin 9.

I can not find any records of any of the family after 1861.
After accepting that the name was likely to have had changes I think that Edwin could have been Edward as when Edward Worden married in 1877 he was abt 26. Also Edward first child was named John Warden. (note spelling) After all this how do I prove one way or the other.
I think I need some guidance PLEASE some one.
Cheers Lorri.
