Robert Motion Macdougall married Margaret Brown and they had 8 children together, Agnes, Alice, John, Margaret, May, Robert, Thomas and William (an artist). Last known address in 1891 was 6 Broomhill Gardens, Govan, Glasgow, Lanarkshire.
Robert was my great-grandfather, Thomas was my grandfather he married Margaret Pearson and they had 4 girls, Margaret, May, Alice and Agnes(My Mum)
My Grandmother was not welcome in the family and lost touch with them after the death of Thomas. Can anyone help me track down marriages of Thomas's siblings or any info that could lead me in the right direction. I believe that William married and moved to London as an artist or teacher.
There is a 5 hour time shift so allow for this if you are asking me questions please. I would hate anyone to think I was rude for now replying promptly.

Do you have the family in the 1901 census?
If they stayed and married in Scotland, then the marriages will be available on Scotlandspeople.gov.uk though it could be a long and expensive search if you dont know spouses names.
Have you tried looking for the deaths of Robert, and Margaret? The informant my be a daughter or son, and from that - if it was a daughter and she had a different last name you'd be able to find her marriage. If she was still single then you could look for a marriage after the date.

Maggie died in February 1921 in Glasgow I believe. This information is from handwritten notes from my cousin so I don't have much. Which is why she and I are trying to pursue this.
I don't have them on the 1901

Missed that - must remember to try using both spellings of Mac/McDougall when searching. Looks like the girls if they married must have done so quite later in life based on their ages.
Obviously Thomas loved is sisters since my Aunt Alice who died recently was Alice Evangeline and the others are also named for his sisters.

Hey Veronica
The death will be available online at Scotlandspeople.gov.uk, they have deaths up to 1957.
It costs £6 for 30 credits. 1 credit to do a search and 5 to view a cert/document.
You can then print or save to your computer or just have it stored on your account on SP.

Thanks both for your help.
When naming people in Scotland I understand that there is a bit of a tradition. Who do you think the Motion in Robert Motion McDougall was named for I know his father was John and his mother was Catherine Dishart. Would it likely be through his father's family?
Going off line in about 30 minutes so will check back in a little while then look again tomorrow.
Must search the IGI a bit further and perhaps invest in some credits.

Thanks so much. I have to take my grandchildren out for supper but think I will be trolling through the IGI tonight when I get back. Those scottish middle names are a great help in going backwards.
Will be able to fill in a few gaps.
Snowing like heck here, we had a foot last weekend.
best to all, will check back tomorrow.

Morning Veronica, Here's a couple of names for you. Don't know where they fit in but I'm sure they're your family!
ROBERT MOTION Pedigree Male Family Event(s): Birth: Christening: Death: Burial: Marriages: Spouse: EUPHEMIA WILSON DISHART Family Marriage: 01 AUG 1837 Dundee, Angus, Scotland
If you check the Motions on familysearch you'll find Wilsons and Watsons in the names. And do check the Ancestral files at the top and click on family, there's a lot of informtion on that. Liz
