Could this be Agnes on IGI?
Agnes Hopwood Johnson, born 25 Dec.1822, christened 18 Jun.1824, St. Mary the Virgin, Blackburn, Lancs. Parents William Johnson & Mary.

IGI has Thomas Edward Johnson christened 19 Oct.1851, Chorley. Mother Agnes Johnson. No father named.
Also
Mary, 11 May 1853
Ann, 21 Mar.1856

Well I have a marriage certificate from 1904.
Annie Chambers father Tom Chambers,deceased.
It took me three years and countless hours,several wrong certificates to eventually find her as Annie O'conner daughter of Frank O'conner and Dorothy nee Chambers who married six years after Annie was born.
Annie's birth was not registered.
I can assure you that father Tom Chambers did not exist.
Her father was a Samuel Cozens.

Hi

I have a GG Grandad who was born 1851 in Chorley, Lancashire. No Father on the Birth Cert..just his mothers...Agnes Johnson. On the 1861 census Agnes appears with 3 children including thomas and is put down as single.

Now i just recieved Thomas's marriage certificate and it has his fathers name on there; "Thomas Johnson, Deceased, Builder & Contractor".

This is where im confused becuase Agnes always appears as single on each census but the marriage cert of thomas shows that his father had the name of johnson as well....

I want to find out more about him but i cant seem 2 find nethin newhere....can anybody help?
