Find Ancestors

Have just found out that one of my distant relatives went to Rhode Island to work in a mill between 1870 and 1875.

This is new to me. Is there a site that I can go on to find out when they sailed and also apart from the 1880 census for USA on family search where can I find any more info on them in the USA

Ancestry.com has a lot of information but it is quite expensive.
We have several members who have it.
I suggest you post some names and ages and see if someone can help.

Last year I to found out that I Had a grate uncle out in Utah and by putting there last name into search on the family tree line came up with a few with the same surname and born about the same time to them I sent an email to ask if they could be from the same family and bingo one nice man in utah knew a man that did and now i find that i have four new half cousins give it a try

The family I am interested in are
Caleb Merritt born in England 1845c
his wife
Emma Merritt born in Randwick England 1846c
Sons
William born Randwick England 1865
Thomas born Rhode Island USA 1875

it looks from the 1881 census that they were working in some kind of a mill and another family from England working there was also Merritt am wondering if they could have been Caleb's parents

Any further information when they went etc would be appreciated

It appears that Caleb stayed behind in the States while his wife Emma and children went back to England.
