Many thanks to one and all for your efforts and replies to my postings for the Edwards family.At last I have now solved the mystery in my wifes family tree.Sidney George Edwards was in fact born Sidney Charter 1874 Dalston, Mddx.Sometime during his youth he got into a fight with an orator at Speakers corner, the orator fell and struck his head and died.Sidney fled the scene & escaped, later changing his name to George Sidney Edwards.My father in law told us this story some 25 years ago,but we thought he was joking as usual.Lengthy census searches and BMD records show the story to be true.Regards to all,Bernie.

9 Dorchester Street

Henry Edwards, Head, Widower, 49, House Painter, St Georges in the East.

George Edwards, son, 15, Errand Boy, Shoreditch.

I,m seeking information about the life of George Edwards b Dec qtr 1875 Hoxton,London. Christened 28/11/1875 St Thomas, Finsbury,London.His Father Henry Webb Edwards b Jun qtr 1838.d Dec qtr 1892.His Mother Betsy Edwards(nee Headford)bDec qtr 1843 d.Mar qtr 1888. The 1881 census shows the family living at 9 Dorchester st. London,Mddx. but I can,t find any of them in the 1891 or 1901 census.All replies welcome and replied to.Regards, Bernie.
