hi ..my surname is oakes...sometimes in records through a lack of education,some records were mis-spelt...probably a long shot,but try oakes...a lot of oakes family in northwich/cheshire..go to CPRDb site. www.csc.liv.ac.uk/~cprdb/ then go to database then babtisms...type in oates.....ie oates peter 7450723 will appear..put a 1 in front.and you get |

Information desperately needed for Cain Oates,possibly born in Yorkshire. His son, John Oates born 1825 in Northwich, Cheshire, married Elizabeth Harrison, born in c1827. I have a copy of their marriage cert dated 16 March 1851 at the Parish Church of Gt Budworth, Cheshire. On the cert John's father is shown as Cain Oates, shoe-maker, but I can't find out much about Cain. So far, the only info I've found is an IGI christening for a Cain Oates on 8th March 1790 at Bradford and a possible death in 1840 at Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. However, on his son John's marriage cert in 1851, Cain is not shown as deceased. |
