about parish records. I know we have a thread on here with hundreds of entries from people who have particular parish records BUT when you want to see if anyone has records that would help you, you need to scroll down hundreds of threads to do so. I am wondering if there is any other way we could do it to make it easier and quicker to establish if the parish records you are interested in are actually listed. With this in mind, is it a possibility that we have a permanent thread for each county? headed for example, Northumberland Parish Records, Durham Parish Records, Essex parish records and so on. Each person then could enter under the appropriate county which would vastly reduce the number of threads that need to be read in order to find the parish you are interested in? I know this would mean quite a few threads, but even when they 'fell off the page' all anyone would need to do to find them would be to do a search for '................ parish records, and they could access it straight away or if preferred Bookmark it. Perhaps someone with actual parish records could start it off? What do you think - Anyway, just a thought.

A brilliant idea Margaret. As you say the other thread is so long .
Also im sure there are quite a lot of people on it who are no longer GR members
As long as people dont put a request on the threads it certainly would be good

Agree... esp if its just a list of parishes, and then people pm for requests, so that you only have the threads with the parishes listed to scroll.

and if everyone could add their parishes in alphabetical order within their thread, with each on its own line like:

ATOWN
BTOWN
CTOWN


then it would be quick to scroll and find.
