I have just looked at Rebecca and James back to 1841 and I cannot see a child called Emma/Emily with them.

Saura.....Laura is actually 2 months on the census I think, not aged 4.

Sibertswold is still preserved as the primary school in Shepherdswell is called Sibertswold Primary School.

Hi Gail, Jessie's is the birth cert I have, her mother is definately Emma Garlinge, above is her I am sure, I am only assuming the info from my cousin is right in assuming Emma's mother is Emily.

I have not tracked the family tho to see how/when they appear in other census.

I can't seem to find Emma any younger than 12.
I have no idea if Emma married, but Jessie did marry.

I only know that Emma's mother maybe called Emily through a cousin of mine who has photos of the 3 generations and was told by her mother the names and rough ages.
