I have been hunting on Ancestry but am having no luck, I am probably doing something wrong.

I am looking for Emma Garlinge, in 1878 she gave birth to Jessie Maud Moore Garlinge in the Union Workhouse in Buckland.
I have been hunting around to find Emma's mother, I know Emma was born in Shepherds Well, Dover, Kent, in 1858.
I am assuming at this stage Emma was an unmarried mother and Garlinge is her surname?

I also think it may be correct that Emma's mother was probably called Emily but cannot be 100% sure.
I have had no luck in finding anything out.
So if there is any kind soul that can show me in the right direction I'd very much appreciate it.

Many Thanks
