Find Ancestors

I am trying to find Way Thomas Harris born C1826 Littlehadham in hertfordshire.

Mother Elizabeth Harris father Thomas Way

I found his birth on IGI and I found him again on 1841 cenus still living in Little Hadham. I cannot find a trace of him after that.

Can anyone check to see if he died or Married? I have tried my best to find him on the census returns but can only find the entry for 1841.

Any Ideas of suggestions would be most welcome.

The Thomas Way born in gilstone was christened 9/4/1809 which would make him about 17 when Way Thomas was born. There are 2 other Thomas Way's I christened in Braughing 13/1/1782 and the other also in braughing 26/4/1801
I do not know which Thomas way was the father. Elizabeth was not married and I found the father name at the hertfordshire archives in the court records when she applied for keep for the child. I have no other details for him. Way does not appear to be a very common name so I though someone might be able to help.

The father is named as Thomas Way in the court records

His age is given as 15 He appears to be living with James Fox 50, Mary Fox 40 sarah fox 9 what his connection (if any) is with the Fox's I do not know.

Reggie I think the Thomnas Way that has been found may be the father of Way thomas Harris. It is also possible that Way thomas harris may have changed his name later in his life to reflect his fathers name. He just seems to Disappear after 1841

The IGI doesn't state who Way's dads is so not sure how you have found out who his dad is

and out of the 2 people that have replied to you i would go with what Reg has say and that no disrespect to Joan


Way as as 1st name or a middle name according to the 1841 is not uncommon

The fathers name Thomas Way was shown in the court records.. I think Elizabeth asked for maintenance of the child and the father is named as Thomas Way. These records are in Big books at the archives in Hertford. There is an index where you can find cases referring to an individual. I does not give much information but is does list the names of the people involved which is how I found the name Thomas Way
