I am hoping that someone with access to the Canadian immigration records on ancestry.co.uk would do me a huge favour. I am looking for Matilda Jane Henry who was born in Birmingham, England who emigrated to Canada where she had a child in 1895. Matilda was born in about 1872, so she would have travelled to Canada at some time between 1872 and 1895.
Any information would be gratefully received.
Regards
Janine

Hi Janine,
I have searched for you, but cannot find any information. Maybe you could give us a bit more to go on:-
Is Henry a married or maiden name?
What is the names of Matilda's parents or child?
Do you know where in Canada the child was born?
Regards,
Susan

I can't see a Matilda Henry, born 1872, on either the 1881 British or Canadian census. Is thate her maiden name?

Hi Margaret & Susan

I do not know the names of Matilda's parents. Her death notice simply states that her parent were deceased, giving no names. It also states that she was born in Birmingham, but since she died in South Africa, it is quite possible that it was near Birmingham, rather than in Birmingham.
HENRY was her maiden name. Apparently she married a guy by the name of Dick EASTES (probably not his full name), but I am not sure whether that was prior to emigrating to Canada. I cannot find a marriage for them in England. I am not sure whether this was her first or second marriage. Her child's name was Amree Marie aka Agnes Maud EASTES b1895. I do not know where in Canada she was born. Amree's death notice (also South African)simply states "Canada".
Rather frustrating, these two!
