I just obtained a copy of my fathers birth certificate - Edward Funnell born 3rd April 1917 Lewes. Mother was Ada Funnell of 12 South Street Lewes domestic/cook. No entries under fathers details. My father died at the age of 50 and the only memories I have is that he said his father died in WW1 (possible but probable cover) and his mum died when he was very young so he was brought up in a local orphange until aged 14 when he joined army as a junior bandsman. |
