Find Ancestors

Sorry, it was my Grandfather William Robert Doran and His brother Alfred James Doran who came to Canada as young boys, their mother Agnes Ashford nee Dunn came to visit one year when they were older & married. Agnes was previously married to their father William James Doran. i'm not sure what year she came to visit but my oldest aunt would have been born in 1915 and she remembered her being here. My Grandfather William was born 03 Sept 1890 in Toxteth Park & his brother Alfred was born 03 Oct 1888. They also had a step-brother born out of wedlock named Joseph Dunn born in appr 1885. I'm not sure what happened to Joseph as he dosen't appear on the 1901 Census of Toxteth Park either. William & Alfred lived the rest of their lives in Canada.

You know all this; I'm just trying to situate myself in time ... for no particular reason ...

i have seen the records on the Home Children page also. Nothing seems to fit with William but according to the census info is says that they came to canada in 1896.

This could be him i have no other information & didn't even know they had an older step-brother until i looked at the census. He wasn't listed on the 1901 census either that i could find.

I'm probably no real use to you at all, since what you really want to find is family in England. You've done well so far by finding the births in the next generation.

Given the era of those births, the 19-teens, at least a couple of them should have died between 1984 and 2005, and that index is readily searchable at Ancestry. Then certs, and the surnames, could give you some more to go on.

Problem with the girls is that their surname would have changed, so having either their marriages or their exact DOBs would be necessary.

You can trawl through the untranscribed marriage index at Ancestry looking for marriages and/or get their birth certs, and then I'll be happy to check the deaths if you don't have access. Just stick the info in this thread if and when you get it, and we'll all see it.
