Ah Kathryn, that sounds like a possibility, will look up births of Ellen Donaldson.

Aha, Irene -- I considered the Straker-by-marriage possibility, and did a search.

Straker George Donaldson W.Ham 4a 397

Donaldson? Sound possibly familiar?

Maybe you could tell us your grandparents' names and birthdates ...

Don't you see, Carol? You have the information, we don't. Any bit of information could be useful in finding your answer. So any information you have, you need to share. Any and all.

I'm happy to help someone try to find answers, but I get pretty frustrated when I have to pry the information that is needed out of them with a crowbar first, and still don't get all of it.

You could get intouch with the cemetary where your family are buried and ask for details. They will give you her details of age at death so you could work backwards from there. If her name is Straker at death that means she did not marry, Perhaps she married a Straker and her name is Ellen?born 1882 at West Ham. Irene

Sorry Carol, can't find her anywhere. If you get any more info that we could go on then let us know.

Good luck,

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Jan 2008 17:23

So have you looked for the birth of Donald? Presumably Ellen wasn't married to Mr. Simmons?

There just isn't a Donald Simmons or Straker in the index who looks like a match.

I'll give up. No info to go on, no way to search.

Carol

Carol Report 16 Jan 2008 17:21

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Jan 2008 17:19

Sorry, Carol, this isn't doing any good.

There's a reason you're looking for this women, one presumes.

She must be related to someone of interest to you. You must know the name of a parent or sibling or husband or child or *something*, or you wouldn't be asking about her, surely!

What is it that makes her of interest to you, and what is the information that's based on??

Carol

Carol Report 16 Jan 2008 17:18

apparently she had a son Donald with a John simmons

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 16 Jan 2008 17:16

So is the one I found the one you found?

Your info really just seems to be off!

Do you have any more you could share? What *do* you know about her? Whom she married? Her children?

Irene

Irene Report 16 Jan 2008 17:16

There is an Ellen born and married at Holborn London. That was all I could find. Regards Irene
