JOHN TOMLINSON : BORN 1865/66 STAFFORDSHIRE - EMIGRATED TO USA John was born in Trent Vale, Newcastle-under-Lyme / Stoke-on-Trent in 1865 or 1866 to William & Hannah (nee Jackson) Tomlinson. He was the eldest of 5 children. His middle initial is either H or T. He trained as an architect and was last known to be living in the UK at the family address in Trentham, aged 16, at the 1881 cencus. He went to the USA, it is thought 'after' he married, to work as an architect, but exactly what year he went is unknown. It is thought that he settled in the Yonkers district of New York. Descendants of his visited the UK about 30 years ago and one of them was called Edna, (his grandaughter we think). Is there a descendant of John Tomlinson in the USA that is a member of Genes Reunited or does anyone recognise the details? It would be great to hear from you. |
