I am trying to put together a migration map to show the spread of the name Tranter / Traunter / Trantor and various local variants in the period up to around 1700. There are tales of a Simon De Tranter being given land by the King near Telford in the 1300's and the earliest Tranters spotted in parish records have been in an arc around taking in Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire. |
