John Turbutt - can't find in census!

Hi everyone,

I have recently discovered, after a lot of searching, the name of my gx4 grandad, Thomas Turbutt, a baker, possibly born in Clerkenwell or area as this is where was born.

I can find only one John Turbutt in the census' he is 20 at the time of the 1841 census and appears to be a convict. I can't seem to get anywhere past this though. His son was born two years after this census, so I'm assuming he must have been released from prison around this time!

Any ideas or help very much appreciated!

Happy New Year,
Claire

Is John the father of Thomas or the other way around? Or is it Thomas you are looking for? Sorry - bit confused.

Sorry everyone, had names mixed up in my head!

The name Thomas shouldn't have figured in that.

It is is John Turbutt that I am struggling with, he is the convict and baker. His son is a William Turbutt, born 1843.

Sorry again!

This may not be him as it shows Turbitt not Turbutt but this could be a typing error?
And would explain why you can'f find John much in the census.

Thanks Michelle, this may well be him, I had the same problem with his son having transcription errors in the census'. I will definitely look into it further!
