Ms Carol E Urquhart. My family of Urquharts traced the origins of our tree some years ago. The name is originally Grecian. A Thomas Urquhart (the spelling was a bit different) came from Greece, to Scotland at a time a wild boar was troubling the locals sheep. No one could kill the boar but this Thomas did. They crowned him a King. His decendants are to be known as 'The Sons of Him Who Killed the Beast', and the crest is a shield with 3 boars heads on it. My particular family crest has a bare breasted woman holding a sword aloft in one hand and a green plant in another, and the shield is beneath her mid torso. Other crests may differ slightly but the shield tends to be the same.
