W. AMOS - William? Walter? From cutting of Diamond wedding (no date) he enlisted Royal Artillery @ Newport Monmouth, 1879 sent to Trowbridge & then Aldershot & The Egyptian campaign of 1882 & battle of Tel-el-Kebir. Said to have had 10 children - 6 who lived and 12 grandchildren. His wife was my great-grandmother. I do not think they can have come from Slawston - possible the west country. A daughter - Emily married a William Brewster in the Lyddington Rutland area in the 1890s. Have photos of them in their dotage and wife was in extraordinary cross twixt wheelchair and a pram !!

Any one getting a bell ringing ??

On 1881 census there is a George W Amos born c 1854 at Deptford in The Barracks,Frome Road, Trowbridge, who is a Gunner in the Royal Artillery. Not found birth reference yet.

AND WOO HOO, there is someone on ancestry one world tree with this chap in his tree: Do you have an ancestry sub as this chap has the Collington family back to mid 17th century ALWAYS ASSUMING (LOL) that this George Amos is your bloke. We need that marriage cert dont we.I havent got my glasses on but I cant see that you give his wifes surname anywhere? What was the name and age of the eldest child and where was the child born please?
