Thomas Wilkinson (1753/1825), an ancestor of my paternal grandmother's, Edith Blanche Wilkinson, was the son of Philadelphia Clennell and William Wilkinson the third, of Crossgates & other estates. He fought at Battle of Bunkers Hill in the 43rd Ox & Bucks LI, and was known as 'Bunker Wilkinson' for his gallantry He married Hannah Elizabeth Spearman. Their son, Percival Spearman 1 Wilkinson (ca. 1792/1875) m Sophia Mary Anstruther and was ordained but never practised PSW 1 built Mount Oswald in 1829 - now site of Durham City Golf Club & Course. His son, Percival Spearman 2 Wilkinson, Knight, of Mount Oswald was known as a landowner, field-sporting enthusiast & traveller; also a well-known archer & inventor of the Wilkinson Salmon Fly and the Silver Doctor for fishing on the River Tweed. He was my great-grandfather. I would be interested to hear of any other details of this family's history.
