Searching for more information about my great grandfather Henry Robert Wilkinson. Born c. 1860/1 in Woolwich, Kent according to census returns. Found only one possible Henry Wilkinson (though no middle name on birth cert) born Woolwich Nov 1861. Father John Wilkinson, fishmonger (on 1871 census he was beer retailer in woolwich), mother Elizabeth, formerly White. Not sure if this is the right Henry. If anyone has any further details I'd love to hear from you. Henry was a military bandsman in the 8th Royal Irish Hussars. Married Ellen Millar in Ireland (so no records) probably c. 1886. Returned to England by 1891. Had 9 or 10 children - all girls except for my grandfather Henry Robert, born 1895. He was also a professional musician - a cellist in some well known British orchestras. |
